For more than a century, the College for Creative Studies has distinguished itself as a premier institution of higher learning. A private, fully-accredited college of art and design located in midtown Detroit, CCS enrolls more than 1,400 students from 31 states and 26 countries.

Students pursue Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in Advertising Design; Art Practice (Fine Arts): Communication Design; Craft & Material Studies (Ceramics, Glass,  Fiber & Textiles, Metalsmithing & Jewelry); Entertainment Arts (Animation, Concept Design, Game); Fashion Design; Film; Illustration; Interior Design; Photography; Product Design and Transportation Design -- as well as Master of Arts and Master of Fine Arts degrees in Color & Materials Design, Interaction Design, Systems Design Thinking and Transportation Design. CCS also offers an Art Education Teacher Certification program.

A great portfolio can open doors to the best colleges of art and design and create better scholarship opportunities. In this workshop students will learn about what colleges are looking for and want to see, along with how to select work, photograph and upload their best work to create a winning portfolio. Helpful for sophomore, junior and senior-level students.

The Concept Design Portfolio requirements for CCS’s Entertainment Art: Concept Design major are a bit specific. We will help you understand where to start, what to do now, how to get ready for the application process, and more! This event is designed to help rising high school seniors and juniors and their parents prepare for applying to CCS. You’ll get clear direction and information that you can use to empower your student to use their passion for creativity to prepare for a successful, rewarding and well-paid creative career. Summer at CCS: one of the smartest moves you’ll make

Summer 2023 – July 9 – 29

Our Precollege program helps you build your portfolio and prepare you for college. So step into something totally new — something you have never tried before, or enhance what you already know about your favorite subject. Choose a studio concentration and tackle a project. Study for three weeks and create a knock-out portfolio. You’ll meet new people, have the option to live on campus, learn from professionals, receive feedback from admissions counselors and participate in a final exhibition of student work. Through the CCS Precollege Summer Experience, you will earn 3.0 college credits, prepare college-level work, develop your interests and talent, and build your portfolio. The Summer Experience program is perfect for high school students who have completed freshman, sophomore, junior or senior year. Resident and commuter enrollment is available.
