The University of Dubuque is a private, four-year, coeducational, professional university with a focus in the liberal arts. Founded in 1852, the University has a heritage of uncompromising commitment to academic excellence and spiritual growth. The scenic 77-acre campus is located in the heart of Dubuque, Iowa.

Our mission of encouraging intellectual, moral and spiritual development dates back to the University’s founding. A small campus community, the University offers a 15:1 student-faculty ratio. Students can earn a bachelor’s degree in 16 areas; master of business administration (MBA) and master of arts in communication (MAC) degrees; and, master's and doctorate degrees in the theological seminary. Our LIFE program offers accelerated degrees for adult learners.

As members of the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and NCAA Division III, University men and women compete in 21 conference sports as well as in a variety of intramural athletics and wellness classes.

Throughout our history, the University has been known as a place of educational opportunity. Even today, a large portion of our students are first-generation college students. Twenty percent of the student population is comprised of men and women from underrepresented populations. The University of Dubuque's welcoming interfaith community of 2,000 students comes from across the country and around the globe.
