Founded in 1893, Aurora University is a private university nestled in a residential neighborhood in Aurora, Illinois, the state’s second-largest city. AU’s 3,800 undergraduate students choose from over 40 majors, including business, criminal justice, education, nursing, software engineering and social work. With a student-faculty ratio of 17:1, students receive personal attention and individualized instruction from dedicated and experienced professors who help them discover what matters and build their lives around it.

Faculty members share their experiences and knowledge with students in ways that have immediate application to their field of study. Students also work with dedicated advisors throughout their college experience to chart an academic path, explore career options, and ensure that graduation always remains in sight.

There’s always something to do at AU. Outside of the classroom, students have the opportunity to pursue their passions and have fun by participating in more than 60 student clubs, including professional, literary, religious, social, and service organizations.

Leadership development is a hallmark of the AU experience. Students gain the skills needed to be successful through leadership experiences as resident assistants (RAs), peer mentors, Spartan ambassadors, or LEAD (Leadership Education And Development) program participants.

Year after year, tuition at AU remains one of the lowest of private universities in Illinois; 98% of full-time undergraduate students receive financial aid. Merit-based scholarships are awarded based on high school or college GPA and ACT/SAT scores. Financial aid counselors work with students and families to ensure that their goal of earning a degree becomes a reality.
