About University of Holy Cross

Located on the West Bank of the Mississippi River minutes from downtown New Orleans, the University of Holy Cross is one of the South's most unique educational experiences. The University was founded in 1916 as Our Lady of Holy Cross College, a Ministry of the Marianites of Holy Cross, and was created to educate and prepare teachers for work in the many schools the Marianites were opening across South Louisiana. The University's continued unwavering connection to the beliefs of the Marianite Sisters and its roots in educating those who would eventually teach others are both part of the foundation that makes the UHC experience so special.
