For nearly 200 years, Norwich University’s guiding values and mission have helped create an atmosphere of excellence. We are the nation’s oldest private military college and the birthplace of ROTC, serving a diverse student body that reflects the world today.
To give our youth an education that shall be American in character — to enable them to act as well as to think — to execute as well as to conceive — “to tolerate all opinions when reason is left free to combat them” — to make moral, patriotic, efficient, and useful citizens, and to qualify them for all those high responsibilities resting upon a citizen of this free republic.
Founded in 1819, Norwich University (Northfield, VT) is the oldest private military college in the country and the birthplace of the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC). Norwich is a coeducational, four-year university where students choose either a military or civilian lifestyle.
Norwich offers more than 30 academic majors, 20 varsity sports and a variety of clubs and activities. Norwich students and graduates are men and women of honor and integrity. More than just arming graduates with a degree, Norwich alumni are equipped with the same set of values that helped build the United States.
