William Woods University Joins SAGE Scholars Tuition RewardsWilliam Woods University, an innovative learning community that offers its 1,100 full-time undergraduate students a $5,000 annual LEAD Award for taking part in cultural, intellectual and global activities outside the classroom, has become the 13th Missouri private college to join the SAGE Scholars Tuition Rewards program.

The LEAD Award is an annual tuition grant, regardless of financial need, for students who commit to campus and community involvement. Students earn points for attending art exhibits, comedy shows, concerts, films, performances, seminars, sporting events and more. Since 2000, the program has provided over $30 million in financial assistance. The award is available to any new, admitted full-time student.

Offers unique undergraduate programs, William Woods is renown for a four-year American Sign Language interpreting program, an internationally recognized equestrian studies program, and a criminal justice degree with homeland security emphasis. The University stresses a service-learning model, believing that students learn best through hands-on experience and through the giving of hearts, minds and talents.

Founded in 1870, the University was renamed in 1900 in honor of a major benefactor; William Woods was a physician and banker. The University attracts students from 35 states and 24 countries to a 225-acre campus in Fulton, not far from Missouri's state capital, Columbia. The Owls' 16 varsity athletic teams compete in the NAIA American Midwest Conference. The University is the sixth SAGE member affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
