Ottawa University Kansas Joins SAGE Scholars Tuition Rewards

By SAGE Scholars — April 21, 2022

Ottawa University Kansas, which offers a remarkable number of varsity sports teams — 33 — to serve a student body of 650 undergraduates, has become the 11th Kansas private college to join the SAGE Scholars Tuition Rewards program.

88% of OU Kansas students are athletes, including numerous unexpected possibilities: beach volleyball, bowling, competitive cheer and dance, Esports, lacrosse, men’s and women’s powerlifting, women’s wrestling. The women’s flag football team won the inaugural NAIA WFLAG national championship in 2021, outscoring opponents 586-to-107 en route to the title.

Located in the Kansas City metro region, OU was founded in 1865 by Baptist missionaries as a boarding school for the local Ottawa Tribe. The University has grown from a single building into a comprehensive educational institution serving over 4,000 students on six campuses and online.

The Kansas campus offers an array of possibilities outside the classroom — campus ministries (9 options), performing arts (10 options), fraternities, sororities as well as numerous student organizations. The most popular majors include Biology, Business, Kinesiology / Exercise Science and Psychology. An 11:1 student-to-faculty ratio ensures small classes. Financial aid is generous; a planner works with each admitted applicant.

Ottawa is the 8th SAGE member college affiliated with the American Baptist Churches USA.
