The Educational Foundation named our scholarship after SAGE Scholars founder and president, Dr. James B. Johnston. A visionary leader in higher education, Dr. Johnston works closely with the leaders of private collegiate institutions to make their values-oriented educational programs more available and more affordable to families and their children. Dr. Johnston is the former Director of Admissions and Financial Aid at the Wharton Graduate School and the 2020 Graduate School of Education (GSE) Alumni Educator of the Year at the University of Pennsylvania.
The SAGE Scholars Educational Foundation in 2019 pledged $1,000,000 in scholarship funds to further support SAGE Scholars’ mission - making higher education more affordable. 2022 marks the fourth year of the annual Dr. James B. Johnston scholarship essay competition. As we wrap up another successful contest cycle, we wish all of our SAGE Scholars students the best of luck as they matriculate into their new institutions. Now and in the future, SAGE Scholars will be there every step of the way.
