MidAmerica Nazarene University opened its doors with five buildings and 263 students on a former Kansas cornfield in 1968. Lubbock Christian University, whose spectacularly-successful women's basketball team has won three NCAA Division II championships in the past five years, has become the 11th Texas private college to join the SAGE Scholars Tuition Rewards program.
