At Southwestern College, we don't expect you to come to college knowing who you are and who you want to be. We allow you the space and environment to discover your passion, to try out new things, and to explore new ideas. We want you to look beyond the classroom, so we provide all new students with a personal Microsoft Surface Pro tablet. Forward-thinking in our approach to technology, we were one of the first colleges in the nation to issue laptop computers to all students.

We want you to have a relationship with your professors, so we have a student-faculty ratio of 12:1. We want to make it easy for all potential students to afford SC, so all our full-time main campus students receive financial aid. Did we mention we have over 40 majors? We do. You will have the freedom to choose the major that you want.

Our nearly 700 traditional-aged students are housed and educated on a wooded 85-acre site in Winfield, Kansas, 40 miles from Wichita. The curriculum and extensive co-curricular activities (10 musical groups, 16 varsity sports) are designed to prepare Southwestern graduates for "leadership through service in a world without boundaries." Working adults of all ages complete college degrees through our military-friendly Professional Studies program, online and at several locations in Kansas and Oklahoma.

Founded in 1885, Southwestern College ranks among Kansas colleges and universities for median graduate salaries, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

About Southwestern College

Southwestern College has its roots in the tradition of the Methodist circuit riders, whose love of education helped shape the educational landscape of the 19th century. Founded in 1885 by the Southwest Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, the college graduated its first class of three students June 3, 1889. The City of Winfield contributed resources to the original campus. In 1909 its name was changed from Southwest Kansas Conference College to Southwestern College, and in 1917 the school earned accreditation by the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges.

Southwestern College provides a values-based learning experience that emphasizes intellectual, personal, and spiritual growth.
