Saint Mary’s College (Notre Dame, IN) is home to approximately 1,600 students from 42 states and 11 foreign countries.  At the undergraduate level, Saint Mary's is a women's college. At the graduate level, Saint Mary's College is co-educational. Founded in 1844 by the Sisters of the Holy Cross, Saint Mary’s is where women "develop their talents and prepare to make a difference in the world." More than 80% of students volunteer locally and nationally; more than 50% study abroad.

Saint Mary’s suburban campus includes 75 acres of rolling hills and historic buildings along the St. Joseph River. More than 510 clubs and organizations are available for students between Saint Mary's and the University of Notre Dame, across the street. The more than 50 academic programs include but are not limited to, nursing, business administration, education, communicative sciences and disorders, psychology, communication studies, and biology/pre-med. Saint Mary's also offers a co-ed engineering program with the University of Notre Dame. Classes average 17 students. Classes are taught by full professors, not teaching assistants, with a 1:10 faculty-to-student ratio.
