A Hood College education begins with a promise: We will provide a combination of outstanding teachers and mentors, affordability, educational experiences outside of the classroom as well as ample preparation for the future. Our students are equipped to excel in meeting the personal, professional and global challenges of the future.
Hood is committed to the integration of the liberal arts, the professions and technology, to the exploration of values, a sense of community and to the preparation of students for lives of responsibility, leadership and service.
With over 30 majors and 40 minors, 21 Division III sports, as well as 60 clubs and organizations, Hood's nearly 1,400 undergraduate students are provided many opportunities for engagement and involvement. With over 100 dedicated faculty members, Hood provides a low student-to-teacher ratio (12:1), as well as high-quality and personal interactions with a full-time faculty of whom 95% hold a doctorate or terminal degree in their field.
Hood's picturesque 50-acre campus is ideally situated in the middle of charming, historic Frederick, MD. The Frederick-Washington-Baltimore triangle not only features a vast and diverse array of world-famous social and cultural destinations -- but also abounds with internships at government agencies, laboratories, media firms, schools, IT companies and other desirable employers.
