DePaul University is the largest private university in the country whose faculty members' priority is teaching. At DePaul, you'll actually get to know your professors! More than 98 percent of all classes are taught by faculty members, not teaching assistants.

The nation's largest Catholic university, we're committed to an educational experience that weaves together mind, place, people and heart. DePaul serves more than 15,000 undergraduates who reflect a broad diversity of ethnic, religious, geographic and economic backgrounds. Our students come from all 50 states and 87 different countries. We offer study-abroad programs in over 37 countries.

By nurturing diversity and intentionally incorporating multiple viewpoints into academic and student life, you'll have a learning experience that better reflects — and prepares you for — the world.

DePaul has one campus in Chicago's business district and another in Lincoln Park. Chicago itself is an ideal classroom — and we take full advantage. Many of our professors work in Chicago as consultants, researchers and entrepreneurs; they incorporate their experiences into the classroom.

Founded in 1898, DePaul is listed as one of the nation's 25 "Most Innovative Universities" by U.S. News & World Report. We offer 120+ undergraduate majors; we’re nationally-ranked in drama, film and game design. We offer thousands of student internships, with over 45 centers and institutes focused on social justice. DePaul students provide more than 500,000 hours of community service a year.

About DePaul University

Teaching and learning are our priorities at DePaul. That might seem obvious, but we’re the largest private university whose faculty members’ priority is teaching. We’re also the nation’s largest Catholic university — and we’re committed to an educational experience that weaves together mind, place, people and heart.

Mission Statement

Inspired by the legacy of Saint Vincent de Paul and Saint Louise de Marillac, DePaul University is a community gathered together for the sake of our mission. These saints shared a belief in the God-given dignity of all people lived out in an ethos we call Vincentian personalism. For more than a century the values of inclusivity, personalism, and professionalism have shaped DePaul’s distinctive culture and our service to students.
