Washington Adventist University has been educating college students since 1904 on a 19-acre campus in suburban Takoma Park (MD), close to the nation's capital. Approximately 1,100 students of all faiths participate in the university's 42 undergraduate and nine graduate programs.

Part of the Seventh-day Adventist system of higher education, WAU offers a Christian education to students of differing faiths, producing graduates who bring competence and moral leadership to their communities.

Recently honored with a "Best Value School" Award, WAU was recognized for its student satisfaction and affordability in addition to innovative academic programs. With a 9:1 student to teacher ratio, WAU offers an intimate environment to students from nearly 40 countries and 32 states. According to the U.S. Department of Education, recent WAU graduates earn 64 percent more than the U.S. national average, with salaries over $43,000.

WAU's School of Arts & Social Sciences, focused on business, education and psychology, offers a curriculum focused on the development of the skills essential to success in the global service economy: Writing, critical thinking, debate, analysis and an understanding and appreciation for cultural diversity.

WAU's School of Health Professions, Science and Wellness offers pre-professional programs with internships for credit. The University has a distinguished record of educating students for a wide variety of careers.
