Earlham is an extraordinary national liberal arts college with a reputation for excellent teaching and preparing students to make a profound, positive difference in the world. Earlham ranks in the top 5 among all 4,300 colleges and universities in America for the percentage of diversity. Students come from all over the world and all 50 states and U.S. Territories.
Though among the top tier of U.S. private colleges, there is a distinct lack of elitism at Earlham. Students and faculty are on a first-name basis. There is an explicit effort to treat all members of the community with respect and inclusiveness. Very high academic rigor is coupled with Quaker-inspired principles of simplicity, peace, integrity, community and equality. Students from any culture, race, religious tradition, ethnicity, country of origin and gender identity will feel welcome.
An Earlham education is about more than tests and papers. We deliver a student-centered journey that examines the world’s most complex challenges in new ways, from different angles and lenses, often in real-world settings.
The Earlham Program for an Integrated Curriculum (EPIC) is a four-year journey integrating your academic major with transformative learning experiences -- research, study abroad, internships, and leadership development to prepare you exceptionally well for life. The EPIC Advantage even offers funding for every student, regardless of major or background, that lets you access at least one opportunity in virtually any location in the world.
EPIC funded more than 300 student experiences this past summer. A sampling: Internships with the United Nations and Ernst & Young; an opportunity to perform a new play at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland; and, research in Tanzania to study animal behavior and conservation.
Earlham students are among the most progressive and involved of any college in America. If you want to make a real difference in your community, our nation or the world, this is the place to develop the skills, knowledge and attitude to create positive changes in society.
