King University, a Presbyterian-affiliated Christian community founded in 1867, is dedicated to integrating rigorous academic programming with the exploration of faith. Undergraduates engage in varied, real-world economic and scientific research opportunities, interacting with prominent voices to examine the intersection of faith and culture.
King's main campus resides on 135 scenic acres in Bristol (TN), a city officially recognized as the Birthplace of Country Music. The Tri-Cities area (population 450,000) features a wealth of live music, including the nationally-known Rhythm and Roots Reunion weekend festival. Students enjoy concerts; sporting events at nearby Bristol Motor Speedway; and, biking, fishing, hiking and skiing while exploring the nearby Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains.
The University provides its 1,500 undergraduates with a robust liberal arts foundation. Specialization opportunities are available in Nursing, Security and Intelligence Studies, Exercise Science, Digital Media Art & Design as well as Information Technology and traditional majors. A 13:1 student-faculty ratio ensures small classes. A dual-degree engineering program is available, and the online learning program is unusually large.
U.S. News & World Report has named King a "Best Regional University" in the South for nearly 30 consecutive years. The Brookings Institute has ranked the University third among Tennessee colleges for preparing students for high-paying careers. University athletic opportunities include 28 varsity teams that compete in the NCAA Division II and Conference Carolinas.
