NewU is the first U.S. university to offer only 3-year Bachelor's degree programs with no summer semesters or extra classes. Now in its fourth year of operation, the university is licensed by the DC Higher Education Licensure Commission and a member of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education accreditor in the Candidate phase (pre-accredited). NewU is also approved by the VA so that veterans, spouses, and dependents can get all of their tuition and fees covered plus get a housing stipend of up to $2,880 per month in Washington, DC. NewU graduated its first class of students in  2025.
