Sweet Briar College Joins SAGE Scholars College Consortium
Founded in 1901, Sweet Briar sits on a 2,847-acre campus, the fourth-largest among liberal arts colleges in the country, with forests, wetlands, trails, vineyards, a greenhouse, and working barns woven into daily academic life. The college serves a close-knit community of just under 500 students with an average class size of eight. Academics are anchored by Sweet Briar's Women's Leadership Core Curriculum, offered alongside 25 majors and minors and four certificate programs, giving students a broad, interdisciplinary foundation built specifically around developing leadership skills.
Several programs set Sweet Briar apart. Its engineering program is one of only two ABET-accredited engineering programs at a women's college in the nation, with graduates completing their degrees in four years and the large majority going on to work as engineers or pursue graduate study in the field. The college's equestrian program is nationally renowned, supported by a 130-acre on-campus riding center and more than 18 miles of trails. Sweet Briar also holds a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, a distinction shared by only about 10% of U.S. colleges and universities, and over the past 15 years, 89% of Sweet Briar applicants to veterinary school have been admitted.
Sweet Briar has also earned national recognition in recent years, including placement among U.S. News & World Report's most innovative liberal arts colleges in three of the past six years, along with regional recognition from The Princeton Review. The college's mission centers on preparing women to become ethical, effective leaders equipped to build a more just and sustainable world, a commitment that has only deepened since alumnae rallied to keep the college open a decade ago.
SAGE Scholars is proud to welcome Sweet Briar College to its consortium of private colleges and universities and looks forward to connecting Tuition Rewards families with this remarkable institution.
